A surviving spouse of a Veteran may be eligible

Published | Posted by Maytha Shaffer

A surviving spouse of a Veteran may be eligible to get a VA-back loan. It is necessary to provide a Certificate of Eligibility to show the lender you qualify
for the benefit and be able to qualify on credit and income requirements.

At least one of these must be true:

  • The Veteran is missing in action, or
  • The Veteran is a prisoner of war (POW), or
  • The Veteran died while in service or from a
    service-connected disability and the surviving
    spouse didn't remarry.
There may be some additional exceptions to these rules.
